Ok.. the first pic isn't snow... This was teh Coastie Chicks dinner at Joe's.

Here's the snow! I woke up, of course, to Ashton crawling in bed with me at 7am. Later than usual, but they were up till 10:15 last night! So he keeps telling me he's hungry, so I decided he could have some cheerios (yes, in the bed). So I drag my butt down the stairs and glanced out the window as usual since there's no blinds and my jaw dropped... So I ran back upstairs and grabbed Kailyn out of bed and showed her out her window. So I got them breakfast and put together their weird little snowsuits which included tights, pants, LS shirt and jacket. Kailyn wore her rain boots and Ashton just used his tennis shoes. Anyway, here they are!

Grandma's house

Went and hung out at grandma's house yesterday. We grabbed McDonalds on the way, stopped and helped some people chasing a little dog along 17, and had sloppy Joe's for dinner. We got home around 10. Anywy, here's the kids playing in the yard.

So Brennan got his first haircut today. It was more like a trim, cause I hate cutting baby hair, but from a distance you can definitely tell a difference. It's off his ears and collar and just a tiny bit shorter on top. *tear* Can't believe he's 13 months already!

Diet

So I started my diet last Tuesday, so as of today I am on day 10 and 5 lbs down. I'm using the Slim-fast 3-2-1 plan and said I was going to work out every day, but so far i've only done it once... lol I have the Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred dvd. It's actually pretty fun, but it does kick your butt! So I have breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack. Two 200 calorie shakes/meal bars, three 100 calorie snacks (SF snack bars or fruit or nuts.. etc) and one sensible 500 calorie meal. I either eat a Lean Cuisine meal and some fruit or veggies or I eat some of whatever I make the kids. Today I decided to take the kids to get something for dinner and they wanted Taco Bell... I didn't go near that! lol They had Quesadillas and Kailyn had the fiesta potatoes and Ashton had pintos with cheese. I had a chicken, spinachand artichoke panini. ;-) Anyway, here's to losing weight and feeling great! haha

So here we are at yet another patrol. Daddy is gone and the kids are crazy as usual. Kailyn is back in school after the holidays so that has helped a great deal with peace around this place! lol We had a great holiday season. Went to Louisiana for Thanksgiving and had a good visit with family. Christmas even we went to Church and Christmas morning we got up super early to do Santa stuff, then headed down to Edenton for Christmas breakfast and present opening at Grandma and Grandpa's. The kids got a crazy amount of stuff, of course, but they are living it all. New Year we just stayed home since daddy wasn't here to celebrate with. I played Modern Warfare 2 on X-box with friends. hehe I was going to watch the ball drop, but forgot cause I was in the middle of a match. *rolling eyes* Silly man getting me into those games. Anyway, that's a bout it! Now to get back to blogging so daddy can keep up with the goings on here at home! ;-)

Kailyn had her first field trip today! They went to Hunt Club Farm and went on a hay ride and got to pick a pumpkin. Ashton had lots of fun being a pre-k kid for the day.

Yay!! We got new floors. It took a little over 2 days. The living room had to be leveled, so they had to do half the room on the second day and half on the 3rd day.

She colors so well! This was picture day and Daddy was wondering what she wore. She had a bow in her hair too, but lost it at school. I was sad cause I had her pink (sleeveless) sailor dress laid out but it was pretty chilly that day and we hadn't gotten a sweater for this year yet. So I grabbed this instead.

So Kailyn started school on the 8th and has done great! So far her only problem was yesterday. She wrote on the carpet with a dry erase marker when she was supposed to be taking her nap. Oops! We went to an open house the other day and got our first fund raiser too. I can't believe we are in school already! Guess i've got at least another 17 years of it to go, so I better get used to it!

I took the kids to the zoo since we hadn't been in a while. There are a few changes there. They have lots of new gardens, the lion exhibit is being built and they have kangaroos now. Oh, and the train is running. So of course we had to do that.

I told Kailyn about herbivores and carnivores the other day while talking about dinosaurs and teeth, and we got on to other animals too, so I was asking her today what she thought each animal was and why. She remembered!

We went to Coast Guard Day last Saturday (the 1st) and a friend took some pictures for us since I forgot the camera.

Brennan had his first Mum Mum the other day (7-29). For anyone who doesn't know, they are like really big flat rice crispies. They melt easy and are a good first snack for the little ones. He usually puts anything I give him right in his mouth (toys) so I figured he would figure it out easy enough, but when I gave it to him he just sat there holding it. The look on his face was comical, like "mom.. you call this a toy?" But once I showed him what it was for he figured it out real fast and ate it up.

I saw this over the baby monitor last night and had to take a picture. He was trying to crawl last time I looked at him. Must have fallen asleep mid "step". LOL

He was so cute playing with this toy. The cutest thing though is I kept putting his feet in front of him because I thought it had to hurt bent behind him like that, but he kept sticking it back the way it was. He didn't fall over though, so maybe he knows it's a good way to balance. He played with that toy for a good 20 minutes. His poor little face. You can't see it as much in the pic here cause it's small, but he was all snotty and drooling. He has a little cold. All the shoulders on my shirts the last few days have been slimed.

I pulled a bunch of tomatoes from the garden today and there were 2 that were already ready and Ashton wanted one, so I started to cut it for him and he threw a fit cause he wanted it whole, so I gave him a whole on. He ate it like an apple. LOL Also Brennan tried out a sippy cup today. I took a video too, but forgot to load it first, so it's not here. There is no stopper in the cup, so he shook it all over and made a mess. lol It was watered down apple juice.

So Tim started a garden a while back with tomatoes, yellow squash and cantalopes and he got 1 tomato a while back and then I found one the other day, but there was a burst of them yesterday and 2 squash. So, here they are. The really red one by the squash is the one from the other day. The rest of it I picked yesterday.

So Ashton spends a lot of time making tracks, but he will make just a small circle or tracks that don't go anywhere. He usually gets frustrated and asks me to help him. So today he asked me to get his trains out (I have to put them away at night or he won't go to sleep. lol) and wanted me to make a track. So I started and was asking him to give me certain pieces and then he told me HE wanted to do it, so I let him go at it. I decided to go take the trash out and told him to call me if he needed me. A little while later, he called so I went up to see and he had finished a track! All but 2 pieces were in place and he was just wanting me to put a new battery in his Thomas for him. So here's some pictures. I can't believe the amount of time he puts into this even though he does get pretty mad some days, I think it's pretty good for an almost 3 year old!

The Panama Canal

Tim's boat went through the Panama Canal and there are webcams over it that you can see on a website... These aren't in any specific order, so i'll just write what each one is. I took them of the computer screen cause I couldn't save the images.

This is when the water was draining from the lock to let them out the other side. (they started up high) They shared the lock with another small boat. (on the right)

Virginia Living Museum

We went to the VLM with some friends today. Levi, Tai and her mom. The kids had a good time looking at all the exhibits and walking on the nature trail. On the trail there are animals (birds in the aviary, fish, alligators, deer big cats and stuff) and a butterfly garden and inside there are exhibits on space, geology, swamps and stuff. Here's some pictures. The kids had a good time. They each got an animal to take home. That took a while to pick! Brennan got a puffer fish, Kailyn got a jelly fish, and Ashton got a sea horse.

So Kailyn will be starting Pre-K this coming fall. I can't believe she is 4, much less starting school! She will be going to Mt. Hermon Preschool Center. She got into a program here called Bright Start and they attend whichever elementary school has space. In this case, I believe it's only a preschool. She had her physical done the other day. She was 36.6 lbs 42 inches tall and had her eyes checked and she has 20/20 vision at this point! Something I was worried about since both Timmy and I wear glasses (or did till he got eye surgery) and I have VERY bad eyesight. They get to school at 9:15 and they do breakfast from 9:30 till 10:25. Their academics start at 10:30 and they have lunch and a nap in there somewhere and get out at 3:55. They can take the bus, but I think for the first few days I will bring her till she is used to the routine. The first day is the day after labor day I believe. EEK!!

Brennan's new trick!

Brennan is 7 months old today and decided to try out a new trick. He is still a little wobbly when sitting up, but is pretty graceful about falling. Anyway, here he is! The end is funny.. at least to me it was.. hence all the giggling. He was getting tired, but determined to reach his goal!

He always puts his face down like that... face down, knees in, butt up and scoot. LOL He's gonna be all over before i know it!!

4th of July

We had a pretty good day. I had started to feel sick a few days before ad by the 4th was feeling like a pile of junk, but after naps I took the kids out into the yard to play and cooked on the grill. I did BBQ chicken and corn on the cob. I also steamed squash and zucchini. The kids ate it all and Brennan even gnawed on some pieces of squash and zucchini. I talked to them about Independence Day and we had star shaped Jello Jigglers and Pillsbury flag sugar cookies. hehe After all that I took Kailyn and Ashton back outside to pop off some of those little pull string party poppers. We had them from the 4th last year that we didn't do. (the only one we did, we set it off right behind Guy's head to scare him.. ;-D) So here's some pictures.

Flower Girl

Kailyn and I will be in my friend's wedding next weekend and her flower girl dress came today, so we tried it on and took some pictures. She LOVED it. She was twirling and smiling at herself in the mirror. I just had her stand on the bed in my room. I got the dress, shoes, gloves, headband, and flower basket, though I didn't take the basket out of it's packaging since it's all got to make a 2 day trip with us.

She couldn't stop smiling at herself.

I picked a different headband, but it went out of stock right after I ordered it, so they ofered this one for the same price.

She was talking a mile a minute about how pretty she was. LOL

Memorial Day '09

Tim had duty on Sunday, so when he got home on Monday morning we packed ourselves up and headed over to the pool. We went to Gator Pool at the Naval Amphib base and the kids had a ghreat time. Brennan slept in the stroller most of the time so we stationed him close to the shallow end of the pool where we could watch the kids slide and him. Kailyn can stand well in the shallow end now. The water is up to her chest (it was just barely below her chin last year) but Ashton can't stand up yet. Unfortunately I forgot the camera, so we don't have any pool pictures yet this year. It started to rain, but we had been there a little over 3 hours so we decided to ehad home. While the kids napped I went and got stuff for burgers and hot dogs and we grilled those and made smores. Kailyn had lots of fun roasting marshmallows. Ashton nibbled on his smore and decided to play instead. hehe So here's some pictures.

So my original plan was to do the garden with the kids for Mother's day, but we got the flowers and it rained for days and I decided to go out there yesterday while the kids were napping and put them in. It was nice to have some ME time. I do need to get 1 or 2 more trays of flowers, but they are so pretty. I got Petunias. They look a little "pale" now, but hopefully now that they are in the ground they will perk up.

So it's been a little while since I posted, so just gonna play catch up.

Brennan was 5 months on the 11th. Can't believe that! He actually ate some cereal yesterday and didn't spit it out. I'm gonna start giving it to him at night before bed to see if it helps keep him full through the night. I think he mostly just wants to nurse for comfort since he goes right back to sleep, but I read that an extra feeding right before bed will help with that urge for a midnight (or 2.. or 4am) snack. He is also rolling pretty well both ways. I wake up to this cute little face peeking over the edge of the bassinet at me. The top of it is level with the bed, and he just smiles away at me laying there with my hair all crazy and my face still smashed into my pillow.

Kailyn isn't up to anything new. We took the kids fishing twice (the first time the boys were sleeping in the car, so it was just Kailyn) and she enjoyed it. We would cast out for her and she would reel it in. She didn't catch anything, but still had fun. She has a Princess rod. LOL

Ashton isn't up to anything new either. He did fish the second time we went, though we didn't put a hook or lure on his line. It came with a little wheel shaped weight (his was a Cars rod) and we just let him swing that around. He mostly fished for rocks (on the sidewalk) but cast out into the water a few times. He also got a (his "first" according to his daddy.. as if we need more) tick while playing under a tree at Grandma's house. That was quite an experience. We went with the burn it method and lit a match and blew it out to burn the ticks rear end and got it out in the end. (after like 4 or 5 matches...) But other than that, nothing new and exciting.

Daddy is off work this week after having his eye surgery this morning. He's on all sorts of pain killers and eye drops, so I am standing in as the 24 hour pharmacy tech and waking him up every few hours for his random eye drop and meds. I'll be up all night waking him up to do that... It's worse than having a newborn! The re-wetting drops are the worst... every 1-2 hours.

Me? Well, I am just going about my days being wife and mommy. Breastfeeding is still going strong, but I am trying to get Bren used to a bottle for when he needs one. I went out with a couple friends for a movie the other night and he took one pretty east for daddy. I think me not being there for him to smell made it easier. I have a good bit of milk in the freezer, so it's there for cereal and those occasional bottles.

We are going to be visiting LA in June. Can't wait for that. I am MOH in my friend's wedding! We've been buddies since kindergarten and she was my MOH. We'll be celebrating Timmy's birthday while we are there and even though we'll be home before Kailyn's, probably her's too. We have lots of plans for while we are there (zoo, Blue Bayou, visiting with friends and family) so hopefully we can fit it all in!

So that's about it. I'll post some pictures soon from fishing and maybe a few others.

So daddy got home on May 1st. The kids were excited. It was a nice warm day, but was kinda windy. Much better than when he left! He had duty today and takes the Chief test tomorrow at 12:45. Here's some pictures.

When he left: Brrrr! It was the one day it snowed here. It was FREEZING and the pier was icy and WINDY and slippery...

Thought this was funny... You can also see the sow on the car still in the mirror...

When they got home: It was a little cloudy and windy, but warm. Here we are waiting with some friends.

4 month well visit

Brennan had his 4 month well baby visit today. They did all the usual stuff and he got his shots. :'-( He was a trooper! He is a tall and skinny boy too. He was 25 1/2 inches and 14 lbs 8 oz. We are still going strong with breastfeeding and have tried a little cereal, but he wasn't quite ready for it yet. I thought he might be teething, but the doctor said it doesn't look like it. Just that he likes to have things in his mouth and he is a drooler. lol He also looks like ahe is a thumb sucker and the doctor said keeping his hands busy can help prevent that without having to use a paci if we don't want to. I am trying not to give it to him as much as the other 2 had theirs. So that's it. He looks good and will go back at 6 months.

We went to a cookout at a friend's house. Brennan jumped in his friends Jumparoo for like an hour! He got crazier than this even. He had so much fun! OH MAN!! IT'S SIDEWAYS!! I'm such a dork...

My cutie boys were dressed alike. Kailyn refused to get in the picture. And yes, that's my laundry on the couch. lol

...in the life of a crazy momma! So i've been trying to get the house cleaned up for when Timmy gets home. It's been through many degrees of messy since he was gone, but I did get it ok looking for a little while and want to at least get it back to that point. We need to do some serious decluttering and get rid of LOTS of clothes and some stuff that's just hanging around.
The kids have been so crazy. One minute they are happy, playing, the next they are ripping each other's throats out. Kailyn has been getting into things a lot more this past week and can't tell me why. She usually just puts this pitiful face on and says "I miss my daddy." And I think it could very well be her acting out, out of frustration, not really knowing what else to do. We have talked more about daddy this time and I am wondering if that wasn't the right approach. I had pictures on the screen saver and stuff and I think it might have come up to often about him being gone.
Brennan did roll over this week! He went from front to back. I got him to do it again for the camera, but I had to help him along that time since he wasn't too enthusiastic about it. He HATES laying down (on both his tummy and back.) He did LOVE jumping in the jumparoo at our friends house yesterday. I am gonna borrow one from another friend who's daughter is too big for hers.
So I guess we are just waiting for daddy now! Not long! I can't wait for him to see the kids, especially Brennan. He has grown so much! I'll probably post some pictures when he gets home.

We had a fun day today. Some of it was real fun, some of it was sarcastic.. the "fun" part of the day was going for Kailyn's pre-k registration. I had a feeling that the paper the doctor gave us wasn't going to be what they needed and I was right. So now I have to wait for the doctor's office to call me back and let me know when I can get the paper I DO need.

The real fun was going outside to play. I had someone cut the front yard today (still need the back done) so I moved the car to the end of the driveway and let the kids play. Kailyn rode her bike and Ashton kicked a ball around. I might have to get him into soccer! He was doing a good job. But it was a nice day. It rained real good yesterday, so the pollen was knocked out of the air and it was sunny, warm and dry. We haven't had all three in one day in a while!

So of course when I didn't have the camera Brennan decided to roll over. He doesn't like tummy time at all, so he kept putting his face down and screeching. Finally he scrunched himself up and rolled right over. Guess I won't be getting him to play on his tummy anymore! '

So I went and grabbed the camera and tried to get him to do it again. He will never be a performer i'm sure because as soon as that camera comes out he puts on a stare and won't do a thing. lol But I helped him out a little and got him to roll again for the camera. So here he is! (once again I sound like a total dork.. lol)

Or maybe not... hehe I tried Brennan out on some cereal a couple days ago. Rice with breastmilk. He made some faces, but I think some of it stayed in. hehe I wasn't ready yet, but I guess my plans to keep him a tiny baby forever aren't gonna hold. He has been acting more hungry even right after he nurses, so I thought we'd try it out. Today we did some Stage 1 applesauce and I think more of that stayed in than the cereal. His little mouth was watering and the faces weren't as bad as the other day, so I think he liked it, just wasn't sure what to do with it. So as soon as I figure out how to post pictures up here I will!

Today's ER trip.

So we have made a few trips to the ER in the past, but today's was an ALMOST stitches day. They would have done them I think if we wouldn't have had to wait 3 hours and knock the kid out for them. They decided we should just put ointment on it for a few days and follow up with our PCM (primary care manager). So guess who it was today! You really have a 50/50 on this one... Give up? Kailyn! (the last puncture would to the head was Ashton.. inflicted by Kailyn.)

So I don't know how many times a parent will tell their kid to put the feet of the chair on the floor. What is so amusing about leaning the chair back I don't know or remember since I know I did this as a kid too. Lucky for me, I never split my head open. So after telling her she would flip her chair if she didn't put it down, of course the inevitable happened. Over it went. Luckily we have carpet right? WRONG! Our AC vents are in the base boards and sure enough, the one vent on the wall decided it wanted to get to know her head a little better. When she first fell I didn't realize she hit the vet, bu as she st up I saw the blood and pretty much threw Brennan... ok, not really, but his lunch was interrupted and I flew over there. Those of you who don't know, blood makes me feel a bit weak, so of course I am sweating. She had it bubbling out of her hair and down the back of her shirt and skirt. She's jumping up and down and screaming not letting me touch it. Of course I had seen enough so I call mom to see what she thinks about the ER and got Ray instead (my older brother) and his theory was "it's free!". So off to the ER. They checked it out and thought it was just a puncture, but when the doctor came in he said it was split a little bit, but probably not worth the pain of stitching it. So I have to call the doctor tomorrow and make an appt for them to check on it in a few days. I got her a shower when we got home form the ER and after her nap there was a little blood on her towel (I put it under her head since her hair was wet) but not enough for me to worry much about it. Guess I will just put ointment on it and see how it goes. *sigh* I know we will have more ER trips in the future, but why the blood??? **chills**
